Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 2026-01-20
1. Introduction This Privacy Policy describes how Happiness Journal ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information, and what choices you have with respect to the information.
2. Data Collection and Use
- Personal Information: To provide cloud synchronization features, we collect your email address when you choose to sign in. This is used solely for authentication and Account management.
- User Content: Journal entries and categories you create are stored locally on your device. If you enable Cloud Sync, this data is encrypted and securely stored on our cloud servers solely for the purpose of synchronizing your data across your devices.
- Encryption: We use client-side encryption for your journal entry text and category names. This means your private thoughts are encrypted before they leave your device.
- Device Information: We may collect non-personal device information (such as model and operating system version) to assist with crash reporting and app stability.
- Usage Data: We do not track your specific activity within the app for advertising purposes.
3. Data Sharing We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (such as Google Firebase) solely to enable the backend services necessary for the app to function (hosting, authentication, and database).
4. Data Deletion You retain full control over your data.
- Delete Account: You can delete your cloud account and all associated cloud data directly within the app settings. This action permanently wipes your data from our servers.
- Local Data: Deleting your cloud account does not delete your locally stored data, which remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
5. Children’s Privacy Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we verify remove that information from our servers.
6. Contact Us If you have any questions or suggestions about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.
